Folkington to Jevington Road

See the video/comment on youtube.

Folkington to Jevington Road is 2380 meters long (1.48 miles) which took me 5.45 minutes to ride, at an average speed of 16.29 mph. It is a BOAT (byway open to all traffic). You can expect to find:

  1. A non tarmac surface
My description:

Correctly marked everywhere.

Lovely byway, nice length. Great fun.

Chalk! Some faster sections in the summer, can be a waterfall in the rain in places.

My favourite lane in the snow!

The streetview start is just a touch around the corner, go around the corner and the lane is on your left.

This byway is recommended.

Walked about half of this one today from the Folkington end to see if the Subaru Forester could cope with it (v doubtful!). ESCC has displayed a notice which I read to mean that the lower half will be closed for repairs (definitely needed!) for 5 days from 12.4.10

31.12.10 - Quite fun, if a little overgrown in places - be prepared to be attacked by low branches! In the wet it's a little slippery on the chalk, but managed it no problem from the Jevington end. Watch the map and signs - just a couple of hundred metres up the track, it forks right quite sharply uphill - you might need a bit of momentum in a heavier vehicle! From where Ash Lane joins it, it's rather beautiful through the woods, but as mentioned earlier can be unkind to the roof nearer to Folkington.

Popular with walkers, so keep an eye out and go easy on the gas.

Is it left or right at the Church sign...? There is a byway marked to the right but that doesn't look like the way in the video!

good track but gets very narrow in places. if your in a 4x4 expect some scratches. at the folkington end is the byway to wilington open? i drive it as its marked up as a byway but the escc website list it as closed?

Did this on yesterday, 31/7/11 in a Jimny with all-terrains and working 4wd (didn't need it though). The Jimny is a v. narrow 4x4 and I stil scraped the sides a few times - will need a bit of t-cut, lol.
quite rutted in places and a few big roots to get over. should have taken the aerial off though. towards Jevington the ruts on the right meant we were leaning over quite a bit for a few dozen yards. I think you'd struggle in anything wider/lower.met another grumpy dog owner :(

Went down with my Jimny yoki geolanders mud and snow tyres and was fun even tho we had a lot of heavy rain was sliding everywhere but didn't get stuck we met a fallen tree right accros the track but the kid infrount in a sj rammed his way threw it and then dragged it out the way for me and the other Jimny wouldn't recommend it if your on your own in the wet as could easily get stuck we neerly did and it was at 10 at night

Is this byway closed now? I went tk the entrance the other day and the sign said closed to all vehicles or something similar. So I turned around. Shame as it looked really good in your video!
