Dowdes Wood Lane & Holly Hill Lane

See the video/comment on youtube.

Dowdes Wood Lane & Holly Hill Lane is a BOAT (byway open to all traffic) or an ORPA (other route with public access). You can expect to find:

  1. A non tarmac surface
  2. Deep Ruts
  3. Deep water
  4. Extreme mud
My description:

Possibly my favourite lane in Kent.

Long, tricky, muddy, big holes, deep water.

Really good.

LOTS of evidence of "off piste" use.

Don't let this fantastic lane be closed!!!

This byway is recommended.

I really like this lane. I agree, its such a shame that it is so abused.

I have recently seen police on bikes here handing out penalties for non-roadworthy vehicles and driving off route. One Guy had been done for 'taking wood' as well, so if you legally cut down a tree that is restricting the access or has fallen onto the route, you MUST leave it by the side of the byway!

Awesome route, brilliant after some heavy rain fall

This one has been shut to motor vehicles now, and is gated at both ends. There is a sign that says something about a permit, but I don't know where you would get one.

Awesome, love the banter. Keep it up.

A lovely trail and so glad it is by permit only now. Would be even better to see 4 wheeled vehicles barred as well, they do far too much damage to these trails.
