Pilgrims Way

See the video/comment on youtube.

Pilgrims Way is 1970 meters long (1.22 miles) which took me 3.52 minutes to ride, at an average speed of 20.8 mph. It is a BOAT (byway open to all traffic). You can expect to find:

  1. A non tarmac surface
  2. Gate(s)
My description:

Some tarmac, some nice graded.

A little bit thin and watery in places but an easy run.

Beware other traffic. You WILL see lots of other users on all of the Pilgrims way.

This has been closed since the rail link was put in, bummer as it was a good lane, not sure if m/bikes are allowed up there.

Yes this has had vehiclular rights removed using a dirty trick under the Town and Country Planning Act. This was in the early 2000s. TRF objected at the PI but the Inspector ignored us. Problem was fly tipping and off list riding and driving. Even the cops used tp drive their 4WDs off piste up the hill!! Maidstone BC carried it through and KCC sat on the fence and totally failed to carry out its statutory duty to assert and protect our rights. The no motor vehicles are technically incorrect and at the west end in the wrong borough Tonbridge and West Malling.

I tried to ride this a few months ago 2023. The sign at the bottom says no motor vehicles, but the latest OS map shows the byway bears to the right about 100 yards up the hill past the sign. The byway seems to come to a dead end before you get to the Lidsing road end so you have to turn around. Quite a few byways have the generic No Motor Vehicles signs, but looking on the councils websites usually says except motorcycles and quadricycles. I cant find anything on this one though.
