Colwell Lane

See the video/comment on youtube.

Colwell Lane is 1180 meters long (0.73 miles) which took me 8.13 minutes to ride, at an average speed of 5.39 mph. It is a BOAT (byway open to all traffic). You can expect to find:

  1. A non tarmac surface
  2. Deep Ruts
  3. Deep water
  4. Extreme mud
  5. A deadend
  6. Width Restriction (probably not for 4x4 vehicles)
My description:

Experienced riders only. Quite tricky, deep mud. Plenty of water.

Beware of obstacles reports of barbed wire placed at neck height.

Marked as width restriction due to part of the road missing, and lots of obstructions.

Correctly signed at one end only.

This byway is recommended.

As of November the lane was closed. Reading the TRO it is closed for 6 months from November to April. Don't quote me on the dates though not quite sure

08/09/13 Now the TRO is lifted and open to all traffic again. The re-grading means 2WD vehicle could use this lane. Still very pretty and worth doing.
If anyone is interested I'm organising monthly 4x4 green lane days in Sussex.
My aim is to follow in the Onelungwarrior's tracks as a tribute to Sven and all his hard work. (Thank you Steve, god rest your sole)
