Beaney’s Lane

See the video/comment on youtube.

Beaney’s Lane is 1052 meters long (0.65 miles) which took me 4.25 minutes to ride, at an average speed of 9.18 mph. It is a BOAT (byway open to all traffic). You can expect to find:

  1. A non tarmac surface
  2. Width Restriction (probably not for 4x4 vehicles)
My description:

Nice lengthy one, shame there's no more near it to make a route.

Good surface, not rutted. 4x4 drivers might have a problem with an obstruction part way down.

Looks like the restriction is designed to allow 4X4's to drive over, but to keep out fly tippers in cars and vans.

Accessed in the Forester via the Guestling end. Surface still in vgc. Couldn't get out the Hastings (The Ridge) end without placing some bridging ladders from the byway up on to the raised concrete apron.

It's great to read something that's both enjoyable and prvoieds pragmatisdc solutions.

Drove it today both ways by Landrover and it is fully passable. Most 4x4s will fit through the posts over the concrete slabs which are about a foot high but if you are coming in from Westfield end, you can get through a wider gap to the side of the concrete slab but you don't have that option at the Hasting Ridge end. A nice drive with a fallen tree to go under and mostly rust free.
