Beggars Lane is a BOAT (byway open to all traffic) or an ORPA (other route with public access). You can expect to find:
- A non tarmac surface
I tried to ride it but it was closed. Tempory TRO order.

The TRO has been lifted for vehicles with fewer than 4 wheels. It is permanently TRO'd to vehicles with 4 or more wheels as of 21-04-2010.

Steep loose gravel, the surface is being monitored for damage, if it gets too much abuse, it will probably be closed permanently.

Rode this lane at the weekend (25.10.10), it's open to vehicle with fewer than 4 wheels "For Access Only". The gravel has compacted well and drains nicely now so the uphill section is no problem at all.
